The Winchester Model 42 was first designed in 1932 and hit the market in 1933. It was produced in four grades, Skeet, Standard, Trap, and Deluxe. This particular Model 42 is first year production Skeet Grade and features five raised gold doves on the right side of the receiver and 6 raised gold bobwhite quail on the left side. This shotgun features a 26" vent-ribbed barrel with vine and leaf pattern engravings on rear and front ends as well as highly engraved patterns on the barrel and trigger guard.. The stock and fore-end are hand checkered in a fleur-de-lis pattern. All wood is highly figured feather crotch walnut with a shiny varnish finish. Both the bolt and shell plate are highly jeweled. This shotgun in excellent condition, and is extremely clean internally with a very high bore shine.
